On Wednesday, the South Carolina Republican Partys conclusion to not hold a 2020 Presidential primary has been confirmed and upheld.
This will make it even more difficult for less prominent candidates who are pushing to win against Trump.
The resolution was upheld by Circuit Judge Jocelyn Newman, who said the law does not give Plaintiffs a legal right to a presidential preference primary, and the Court will not substitute its own judgment for that of the General Assembly or the SCGOP.
Bob Inglis, former South Carolina congressmen sued state Republicans, claiming this decision to skip the primary, strips him and other likely candidates of the ability to vote for the candidate of their choice in South Carolinas famous (and particularly influential) First in the South primary.
More from NBC News:
South Carolina is among several states that have canceled Republican primaries and caucuses next year, an effort that helps Trump consolidate his support as Democrats work to winnow their large candidate field. The move, taken September in South Carolina by the state partys executive committee, is not unusual for the party of the White House incumbent seeking reelection.
Challengers have emerged to Trump, including former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh. Mark Sanford, a former congressman and governor from South Carolina, entered the race but left after two months.

One down, fifty six to go.
Ha!
Time for some Weld/Walsh whining.
I have some cheese with that whine!
Bob Inglis: Max RINO. And loser.
They’re free to run as Democrats.
There was a lawsuit, it was dismissed. States Partys of incumbent Presidents with no serious challenges have done this before. It is nothing new. Going to court to sue to force them to waste time and money on it is the new thing.
This is a 6 of one half dozen of the other in terms of this affecting Trump being the nominee....
However, the Party is the Party, it has every right to decide what to do, it is insane that the court should be able to force them to do something.
One down, fifty six to go.
You forgot Greenland, we might buy it before the next election. :)
Well, if they want to make the state party blow money on something they know is pointless, then that is just stupid.
There weren’t even primaries not all that many decades ago.
That means I can vote in the Democratic Primary now. South Carolina you can choice which primary you want to vote in.
Who should I vote for?
Which one would mess things up?
What is Trump afraid of????
I don’t think this is a smart idea. Yes, it means some anti-Trumper or RINO is deprived of a South Carolina primary election campaign, but as I don’t expect Trump would lose it anyway I think a non-election is never a good idea.
Political parties can select candidates in whatever manner they wish. There is no presumption that there needs to be a primary election in the first place.
Wait! We haven’t heard from Paul Ryan, William Weld or Bill Kristol! I mean these are serious GOP contenders!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA
Which one is the most objectionable? Which one gives Trump the most colorful material to work with? There is no end to the entertainment that the best candidate from the democrat clown panel could provide!
“That means I can vote in the Democratic Primary now. South Carolina you can choice which primary you want to vote in.”
That is what the state GOP should have fought to change - to get rid of party-switching in primary elections. Switching parties, or voting for any party for the primary election is not a feature most states permit.
Then, if they changed that in S. Carolina, there would be no chance of Dims voting in the S. Carolina primary just so as to vote against Trump.
Money is not unlimited. Would you rather millions be spent on pointless primaries or used to help at risk Republican candidates in the general? Would you rather see some unpopular RINO’s speech and actions in a primary give the Democrats ammunition to use in nationwide political ads? If you want someone other than Pres. Trump, you can always write the name in on your ballot,
