The area in which this occurred is dangerous; you can tell by the residents interviewed on the news last night. Doesn’t look like a W-2 has been issued there in decades. I was surprised to see the Jewish population there; I had been there years ago and there wasn’t a white person in sight for many blocks.
The gibsmedats there have been very concerned about gentrification in other areas of Jersey City (where they were simply displaced by more productive uses of the land/properties). The news referred to this particular area as “gentrifying” as well, but I don’t see it - throngs of gibsmedats all over the place still.
I would imagine the jews are holdouts from 50 years ago, etc. as for the black ghetto... let them rot, not my problem. Let the gentrifying hipsters get what they deserve too for being so woke... no sympathy for either.
I don’t think the Jewish people are holdovers - they weren’t even there when I was there a couple of decades ago. I believe they are coming from NYC (a couple of the victims may have been NYC residents - the news here is treating this as an NYC story). In fact, that may have played a role in the shooting (opposing gentrification); can’t be sure.
Younger hipsters would NOT move into this area; they live north of here (in Hoboken and Jersey City’s “gold coast”. They talk liberal, but they would never expose themselves to the dangers posed by the unassimilated gibsmedat class.
