The investigation by the IG isn’t an all-encompassing one. This investigation was on the narrow issue of the FISA warrant application. Regardless of where it actually came from (which we know a lot of), the FBI did not even begin to verify it before using it as verified evidence.

It’s like trying to determine the identity of the person who broke into the stock room, and what they stole. HR isn’t going to try to verify the person’s birth certificate and parentage.
