I am a pretty average representative of people who grew up on farms I guess.
I even recognize that chickens provide eggs and meat and are quintessential livestock. Been a while since I ate a store bought egg.

If you are farming 100,000 broilers for some chicken corporation youre likely not to get too worked up if a dog or cat eats a few every now and then
If youre a rural Gadsden flag sort who knows their laying hens and rooster by name youre likely to take it personal
I have two big uncut Rotts on my small horse place .....they do not mess with the horses....knowing death when they see it.....and I have a cattle operation next door with Angus on a few hundred acres
My dogs have never gone after the calves
I had an American bulldog that would have and I had to give him away
This is pretty unusual cause my experience with Pyrenees is they are usually devoted to their flock or herd
Btw I dont think most here except the most hard bitten would have executed the dog in front of the kids
