President Trump blasted House Democrats' articles of impeachment as "flimsy, pathetic, ridiculous" hours after they were rolled out.
"Today, the House Democrats announced these two flimsy, pathetic, ridiculous articles of impeachment," he said. "With today's announcement, they are now admitting there was no collusion, there was no obstruction of justice, and there were no crimes, whatsoever!"
Neither article of impeachment names a crime that the president allegedly committed. House Democrats characterized Trumps withholding of military aid to Ukraine as a "bribe" for weeks during impeachment hearings, but the charge was notably left off the draft articles. The second article of impeachment alleges Trump obstructed Congress, which differs from obstruction of justice.
He went on to call the impeachment efforts "impeachment lite," slamming the process as the "the lightest, weakest" impeachment "in the history of our country by far." Trump also accused Democrats of abusing Congress's impeachment power and cheapening a solemn process.
"To me, impeachment is a very ugly word. It's a word I associate with some very bad times in our country," Trump said. "This was a big deal. They are making it so it's like, 'Let's do this every six months.' They have cheapened a process."

Whats wrong wit Brit Hume?
I think the point he was making was that while everyone attributes Clintons re-election victory to blowback against Republicans over the impeachment, it really had more to do with a good economy.
In other words, recent improvement in Trumps re-election prospects may have more to do with good jobs reports than with the Democrats embarrassing impeachment antics.
Personally, I think its both. The Democrats are indeed helping Trump, but a significant economic downturn this summer would be devastating, with or without impeachment.
It was neither. Clinton was reelected in Nov 1996, 2 years before he was impeached in Dec 1998.
Actually, Article 2 is about Obstruction of Congress. To me, that is actually one of the responsibilities of the Executive Branch when Congress is out of control.
