Poison Sumac looks a little like the harmless Prairie Flameleaf Sumac tree that grows in the woods and on properties here-pretty Fall color...
Unfortunately, Oregon is a bit too far North for poison Sumac to grow-poison Ivy should be right at home there though-and it grows really fast-we could donate some seedlings to Portland’s homeless rest spaces for shade and windbrake plants...
Oops-that’s a “windbreak”-it does not have any “brakes”...
I haven’t spent enough time that far north so as to be aware.
What I do like is that Texas is too far south for much red cottonwood. My allergies have been so much better since I moved down here.
Poison Sumac grows up along Hudson Bay. No problem in the temperate climate of Portland, OR (or Maine).
