Population density is only the tip of the iceberg. The problem is that the land available for farming is limited, therefore the amount of food to feed people is finite. The seas provide some food.

Then there is the land able to be homes to people. That's finite, too.

True. And regardless of what people are arguing, continued population growth is unsustainable given those finite present and future resources. When I was in international relations grad school, we used to argue about the current and future coming resource wars...
