Adam Schiff’s Attack on the Free Press
nationalreview.com ^ | 12/6/19 | David Harsanyi

Where are all the self-styled champions of the free press now that Adam Schiff has used the surveillance powers of the state to smear not only his political rivals but a journalist?

With the release of the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment report Tuesday came the revelation that Giuliani and his Ukrainian affiliate Lev Parnas, whose metadata Schiff apparently subpoenaed, had exchanged calls with former The Hill columnist John Solomon, ranking Intelligence Republican Devin Nunes, and attorney Jay Sekulow.

Even if we allow that the California congressman had genuine national-security concerns when he subpoenaed metadata from AT&T so he could snoop on his political opponents, what possible national-security concerns would justify unmasking them? This was an impeachment inquiry, not a criminal investigation. If Nunes had conducted himself similarly with Hillary Clinton’s personal lawyers, the D.C. press corps would have exploded into a raging panic. Rest assured, if Schiff had unearthed anything meaningful — and the subpoenas reportedly went out before the impeachment inquiry even began — he would have shared the evidence during the inquiry rather than using it as partisan chum in a post-inquiry report.

None of those unmasked by Schiff were the target of the inquiry, and, as far as we know, none of their conversations he exposed were unlawful. Nor were any of these conversations relevant in making a case for the impeachment of Donald Trump, especially without information beyond the time, dates, and lengths of the phone calls.

Schiff’s decision to unmask a journalist, though, was especially disconcerting. It meets none of law enforcement’s typical standards.

Shiff would have loved being a snoop in the old USSR...or Obama’s FBI.

If you knew (as a reporter) that Shifty was ‘tailing’ you...why wouldn’t you go and call up some number at the Justice Department (even just a secretary that makes coffee)...make four minutes of chatter, then turn around and call Shifty’s office to ask another secretary about the art of making coffee.

A month later, Shifty has all this metadata, and constructing this...looking at a conversation with an OMB person, and then...wow, some conversation with someone in the Shifty office as well.

Shifty would get all freaked out, and then you’d enlarge the circle...getting the secretarys of Alcee Hastings and Cory Booker. Then even Rush Limbaugh’s secretary to ask about Rush’s choice of pastry.

Pretty soon, Shifty would have 500 people on the watch-list...just over three-minute conversations about coffee, donuts, or pastry.

I suspect he is aware somebody has similar info on him, which leads to criminal convictions, so he is trying to turn this type of evidence into poisonous fruit to poison the tree, getting all such evidence to throw out any charges against himself.

Interesting thoughts.

Here is a little from elsewhere.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3798517/posts

(snip) -- "Democrats are trying to convince Americans that President Trump should be ousted for trying to “dig up dirt” on a rival. They’d have more credibility if they didn’t abuse their surveillance powers for drive-by smears of Republicans and a free press.

Adam Schiff’s 300-page House Intelligence impeachment report doesn’t include much new about Mr. Trump’s Ukrainian interventions. But it does disclose details of telephone calls between ranking Intelligence Republican Devin Nunes, Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, reporter John Solomon, former Giuliani associate Lev Parnas, the White House, and others. The details are “metadata” about the numbers and length of the calls, not the content.

The impeachment press is playing this as if the calls are a new part of the scandal, but the real outrage here is Mr. Schiff’s snooping on political opponents. The Democrat’s motive appears to be an attempt to portray Mr. Nunes, a presidential defender and Mr. Schiff’s leading antagonist in Congress, as part of a conspiracy to commit impeachable offenses."

Did Schiff stop at grabbing phone records?

We demand to know whether Schiff used govt surveillance methods or tax-paid technology to monitor the activity of individuals.....

House Democraps are notorious for employing the shady Paki clan for IT work.

Most of the clan absconded but the mastermind Imran Awan was tried and convicted.

An even bigger mystery than how the Pakis got here and got paid huge govt salaries is how the shady Pakis got visas to abscond.

Did “someone” with a lot of political pull facilitate the visas to help them abscond? Some reports say the Pakis traveled on WH visas.

Could be Schiff is a Cyberstalker.

Cyberstalking is the use of computers or other electronic technology to facilitate stalking.

These are “criminal stalkers” perpetrating crimes against their targeted victims through electronic and online methodologies.

<><> Facebook and Apple have admitted to allowing government officials to access personal information of their account users.

and the subpoenas reportedly went out before the impeachment inquiry even began

Interesting.

This tells me that these subpoenas were part of the overall effort to frame Trump, rather than a fact-finding effort that would follow discovery of an actual crime. That is consistent with the rest of what we know about the shampeachment--that Schiff met with the "whistleblower" prior to any whistleblower complaint, which one may surmise was to take a paucity of fact and spin with a ton of innuendo to construct a narrative that a Presidential phone call is somehow a high crime. These subpoenas were to show that people connected with the President also made phone calls, more material to weave with innuendo and insert into the narrative.

The Constitution included impeachment as a reactive remedy to remove a president who is demonstrably abusing power and actually committing crimes. It is not a proactive tool to remove a president that political opponents perceive as a threat to their power structure.

What recourse do we, the people, have against those who abuse their power--namely, Schiff, Pelosi, Nadler, and their sycophants?

With his rules of committee on how and what can be done in this assassination of a president, and his committees blanketing of the press, maybe he should be called Che Schiff.

This begs the question. Who else did Schiff spy on? What other phone data does he have? Was this an attempt to get information to use to blackmail witnesses? At the very minimum Schiff should be censured by congress. There should be a DOJ investigation into this matter.
