Good point. Designating the drug cartels as terrorist organizations would probably be followed up with financial moves, travel bans, and the like. Not military action.
It might mean that anyone in the drug trade — from the cartel members to the street dealers to the junkies — could be charged with giving material support to terrorism.
After the 9/11 attacks, there were news stories about the price of heroin going up due to the increased security at the Mexican border. Would that work now? With the integration of manufacturing across the border, would the drugs and illegal aliens just get shipped in with the auto parts?
