No knock raids should be illegal. Bring enough manpower to cover all exits, and identify yourselves. If someone barged into our home in the middle of the night, the first thing we would do is grab our guns and shoot the perpetrators. Especially if they shone bright lights in our faces, so we couldn’t see they were cops.

I don’t think they are legal in Texas. But they are executed all the time, by orders from judges.
People busting into your home screaming “cops!” may not actually be cops.
Home invaders have dressed up as officers and broken into homes armed. To automatically assume home invaders are who they say they are can easily lead to you and your family and pets’ deaths. In the case of actual cops this also applies.
