I am certainly NOT giving any credence to Islam OR the Koran. I simply used the example in Acts, “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.”
It was NOT a form of government, it was a group of believers caring for one another in time of need.
Were you meaning that the Pilgrims were governing as a theocracy as your connection to the early Christians?
I was talking about socialism vs capitalism, and it was the Plymouth Colony that tried both and found that capitalism worked. The Virginia Colony of Jamestown had a similar experience.
I was NOT making any religious references in my initial post, especially not the concept of establishing a theocracy. I was looking at only economics.
"Why" is the big question because the CDC says it doesn't seem to correlate well to other factors like years of schooling, wealth, urban/rural and so forth.
The black maternal mortality rate is high in black-majority cities (Detroit, BIrmingham, Baltimore, Memphis, New Orleans) as well in areas where blacks are a minority. Interestingly NBC News reports that Washington, D.C. has, overall (all races) the highest maternal mortality rate in the U.S.
One thing that occurs to me, is that black women also have 3x the abortion rate of white women. Abortion can set up complications in subsequent pregnancies, including infections, internal scarring, cervical failure, and rH sensitization.
I have a hunch that's the one factor they (CDC and other "experts") haven't quite looked into yet.
