You probably can reverse hack this by having people hold a small rectangular cardboard square saying, this is not a cellphone.
Get enough people to do it and the gov’t can reliably fine anyone.

Just as big a problem as civilian drivers is law enforcement blathering on on radios.

Will they also be able to detect people changing radio stations while driving?

I used to be on the side which advocated the government not passing distracted-driving laws. Years of witnessing distracted-driving accidents on my daily commute into Houston has changed my perspective. Every PSA in the world is not going to fix the problem.

Sophisticated software automatically detects if a driver is handling a phone. The "sophisticated" software can distinguish between the driver handling a phone, and one of the passengers handling a phone. Cool!

RE: Big Brother is watching you
The question is this -— How do we know this surveillance system is not coming to our country?

I am all for it. I think Smart phones should come with an automatic self-destruct function if it detects use while the vehicle is in gear. Sure it may cause some death and destruction to a few innocent bystanders during the immediate implementation period but, in time, the survivors will figure it out...
