Not a huge hockey fan but I recall
them being in Atlanta.

One NFL team that switched nicknames when it moved:
Houston Oilers—Tenn. Titans
(Titans had been orig nickname
for NY Jets tho)

yes, good example.

Houston Oilers made sense in Houston with the oil business. But the nickname didn’t make sense in Tennessee.

This jogs my memory also, that in baseball, the Washington Senators became the Texas Rangers. And the original Washington Senators franchise, became the Minnesota Twins. Both adopted nicknames appropriate for their new locations.
