Ted Kennedy?
Bill Clinton?
Comeon, now, that sword cuts both ways...
True that. My five children and my wife (their mother) talked about sports and school, and boyfriends and girlfriends, college and future plans, and a whole lot of jokes at each others expense.
But politics never came up. Never needed to come up, because we were talking about our family, as a family, and how God has blessed us.
Why can I not see the comments? They never load!
Or just do what I do at my Thanksgiving table: ban all political talk.
I don’t tolerate it. There is so much more in the world to talk about than politics.
Amen!
Hussein said loosing your job allowed you more time to spend with the family. As foreclosures increased, that having multiple generations moving into one house allowed people to live like the Waltons.
*Losing...
Only one non Trump fan family member around here, large degree, larger education loan debt, and small income. Even though she is as old as the Golden Gate Bridge, she still gets her mom to do her laundry. She was a big fan of the Kenyan faker.
Yet another anti-Trump post poorly disguised as intelligent comment.
Mine was like a Trump rally too, because it wasn’t “family.” It was family: All attending had red-white-and-blue blood flowing in their veins and we talked politics throughout and had a great time.
Not to mention the BLS is a key Deep State swamp creature that lies for Obama and lies against Trump.
With Obama, bad news numbers were reported lower and then later “revised” up when no one was looking.
With Trump good news numbers the numbers are lowered then “revised” up when no one is looking.
The left appears to be on a campaign to abolish the holiday known as “Thanksgiving”.
We have myriad articles describing how we are lied to about the origins of the holiday and why we should be ashamed to even thing about celebrating such an evil act.
Then, since the Obama era, they have been suggesting starting political arguments at the dinner table, (while denouncing them at the same time) designed to make everybody dread the occasion.
The goal is to make the overall experience so unpleasant we just throw up our hands and quit.
I generally host Thanksgiving at my house and did so this year. I’m openly conservative and conservative Christian. My family runs the gamut from conservative to liberal.
The only relatives that can’t have a civil conversation on politics are not invited. The aunt and cousins who screamed at me in my own home in front of my kids about my political and religious views (because my faith informs my voting, so I can’t in conscience vote Democrat) hasn’t been here in around eight years.
My moderately liberal atheist brother who can politely debate tax and immigration policy will see MAGA straws at Christmas as a gag gift. He doesn’t like Trump, but he isn’t addicted to the hatred of orange man bad. And he hates identity politics, because as a white guy, he knows it has cost him job opportunities.
Clintons team did a great job of framing Trump as a dangerous and unstable Hitler-in-the-making. As I noted before, that provided moral cover for her supporters to threaten and physically assault Trump supporters in public.
Adams, Scott. Win Bigly: Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don’t Matter (p. 231).
This is the evil of “the personal is political”. They feel morally obligated to inject their politics into science fiction conventions, religious events and family gatherings. You aren’t allowed to have neutral public places.
It is like Islam. That every symbol and opinion contrary to the totalitarian ideology must be attacked and torn down for the sake of ideological purity and their opinion of the public good. And true members of the faith are ordered to bring it up all the time.
