I shudda read ahead...
Redford supports environmentalism, Native American rights, LGBT rights,[63] and the arts. He has also supported advocacy groups, such as the Political Action Committee of the Directors Guild of America.[64] Redford has supported Republicans, including Brent Cornell Morris in his unsuccessful campaign for the Republican nomination for Utah's 3rd congressional district in 1990.[64][65] Redford also supported Gary Herbert, another Republican and a friend, in Herbert's successful 2004 campaign to be elected Utah's Lieutenant Governor. Herbert later became Governor of Utah.[66] Redford is an avid environmentalist and is a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council. He endorsed Democratic President Barack Obama for re-election in 2012.[67] Redford is the first quote on the back cover of Donald Trump's book Crippled America (2015), saying of Trump's candidacy, "I'm glad he's in there, being the way he is, and saying what he says and the ways he says it, I think shakes things up and I think that is very needed.""[68][69] A representative later clarified that Redford's statement, taken from a longer conversation with Larry King, was not intended to endorse Trump for president.[70]
Redford is opposed to the TransCanada Corporation's Keystone Pipeline.[71] In 2013, he was identified by its CEO, Russ Girling, for leading the anti-pipeline protest movement.[71]
In April 2014, Redford, a Pitzer College Trustee, and Pitzer College President Laura Skandera Trombley announced that the college will divest fossil fuel stocks from its endowment; at the time, it was the higher education institution with the largest endowment in the US to make this commitment. The press conference was held at the LA Press Club.[72] In November 2012, Pitzer launched the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability at Pitzer College. The Redford Conservancy educates the next generation of students to create solutions for the most challenging and urgent sustainability problems.
GMTA!
um what in the world does robert redford being a flaming liberal have to do with joseph smith? Your comment doesn’t make sense- I was commentign o nthe fact that robert has it backwards- Pt resident Trump is RESTORING our Values- NOT destroying it, like robert whines about- my comment had absolutely nothing to do with mormonism whatsoever-
The commection was the word RESTORE
Likewise, JS had it backwards as well.
Liberal???? Yea sorry .... I bleed Red, White and Blue .... and am certified Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity devotee. Doesn’t get more conservative than that.
I love Trump because he’s attacking the ‘deep state’ of politics/bueracracies in USA to get us back to the Constitution.
I love Joseph Smith because he attacked the ‘deep christian churches’ to get us back to the Bible and Jesus Christ. (NO FAKE NEWS CREEDS!!!)
I’ll bet we agree on most everything other than the church we’ve decided to belong to.
Mormonism has been tainted both by the attempts of their enemies to slander it
and by the attempts of their supporters to vindicate it.
Elsie, I suspect that you are right .....
however, it just so happens that you are one of the greatest ‘slanderers’ of my church on freerepublic ....
....and I am one of the greatest ‘supporters’ of my church on freerepublic.
So .... we butt-heads. If you were to meet me in person, you would likely be surprised as I am not very confrontational and generally very understanding.
But alas .... Just like I hate it when CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS slanders Republicans/Trump ..... I hate it when I see my beloved gospel slandered. And after being nice for over 50 years ..... I decided to push back.
Gee....funny how he was silent when Obama was issuing unlawful executive orders and spying on his political opponents.
Both sides are infused with by wild-eyed nuts and/or scruffy little mavericks.
But ruffling feathers or stroking the cat’s fur the wrong direction tends to generate more heat than light.
