Americans, not Chinese, pay Trump tariffs: NY Fed study

When the Trump administration imposed tariffs on Chinese imports last year, officials insisted China would pay the cost - implying Chinese firms would have to cut their prices to absorb import “taxes” of up to 25% when the goods hit U.S. shores.

Instead, the prices Chinese firms charge have barely budged, meaning U.S. companies and consumers are paying the tariff costs, estimated at around $40 billion annually, New York Fed Reserve Bank researchers found in a study released on Monday.

>>>Keep raising the tariffs until the jobs and industries come back to America and the trade deficit balances.

The President has raised tariffs this year and now Industrial Production in the manufacturing sector is less than it was in December 2018.

Why yes, buy American. The idea is to give pain to Chinese products and relief by buying the American products. This is all done in hopes that the manufacturing will be moved back home where it belongs.

There is no labor shortage. That is total BS.

So where are all the workers for your manufacturing plants going to come from?

The labor participation rate is around 60%. 40% will work. Even lazy slobs like you.

manufacturing sector is less

Imagine if the mitigating effect of tariffs were not there. It would have been much worse.

I'm energetic enough to know how the labor participation rate is defined. Unlike some.

Now to get hubby to install it.

You can probably go to the Home Depot parking lot and find an illegal alien to put it in for you.

But the whole basis of the article is just plain stupid.

We raised tariffs on them but the Chinese did not raise their prices so the Americans are paying the tariffs??
