It might force Pelosi’s hand to move forward with a vote.

They can make a plausible argument that no new nominees for any fed.gov position should be put forth by a POTUS under active impeachment proceedings.

So if RGB doesn’t return her vote will become the same as a recusel. If we really did have a conservative SC RGB’S vote wouldn’t matter. Unfortunately we don’t.

It doesn’t say anything of the sort in the constitution.

"Should" is such a subjective word, it is usually meaningless.

If she does that, conservatives should make the argument that speakers of the house should not be allowed to take a vote on impeachment because of the obvious conflict of interest. It will lead to her becoming president and it will put the party who voted for it into power. Who cares if it’s
Constitutional for her to do so? The second amendment, the electoral college, and the ability of the president to nominate Supreme Court justices are constitutional as well.

I don’t believe there is anything written in the constitution saying a President under impeachment cannot nominate justices to the bench. Question will be whether McConnell, who has pushed through over 150 justices will capitulate to whiny Democrats.

If that is true it will become the new political weapon to block presidents, in the future, from any accomplishments.
