Back in April, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs ludicrous Green New Deal inspired a group of New York City construction workers to unionize, becoming one of the first unions in the solar power industry. It didnt last long, though.
On Monday, the unions employer, Bright Power, decided to fire the whole staff and replace them with subcontractors. All this happened while the union was trying to negotiate for their first contract, too.
We have come to the conclusion that our resources have been spread too thin with so many different kinds of work all being done in-house, Jeffrey Perlman, Bright Power CEO, said in a company email, according to Vice. It makes business sense to return to a fully subcontracted solar installation model.
Ouch. It was not revealed if the unionizing was the cause, but the timing couldnt have been worse. The fired workers had been employed by Bright Power for the last four years, and they think the unionizing was the reason behind the sudden cuts.
This is obviously retaliation for union organizing, said Chris Schroth, one of the 12 fired by Bright Power. The total hypocrisy of their progressive mission as a green energy company is disgusting. They did everything that a big bad union busting company does. This is exactly what a coal company or any other evil company does.
The firings came during a period of growth for Bright Power. The company, which installs solar panels in many areas of New York City, has been named one of 5,000 of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. by Inc. magazine.

I’ve heard it’s illegal to fire employees for union organizing. However, do such labor laws apply, if a company decides to terminate everyone, and just not have employees anymore? Apparently not.
I wonder how happy these employees are with Ocasio-Cortez now, seeing the real world consequences of pushing for unionization?
So how many jobs has this mindless twit cost NY in the single year she’s been in Congress?
They were organizing a union so it technically was not a legally recognized union. If there was a more perfect time to do it, this would be it before it grows into a cancer.
Rule #1. You can’t unionize in a strong labor market.
GOOD! This is how it should work.
Right, the tech jobs in NY, too. She should bring coffee and donuts to the long unemployment lines in her district. Dropped off by a gas guzzling long limo with the engine running to keep the heater warm for her.
Someday she’ll run for US Senator and then President.
“Let me do for the whole country what I have done for New York. The era of capitalist white male supremacy is ending.”
Unionizing is an attempt to get
more eggs by strangling the chicken.
This is obviously retaliation for union organizing, said Chris Schroth,
Uhm no, Deek head.
You priced yourself out of the market
Stew pet...
Chris Schroth sounds like a Union thug buttstick.
“if a company decides to terminate everyone, and just not have employees anymore? Apparently not.”
Yep, it’s not against the law to change your business model of operations. They can’t force you to run it the way they want you to run it. “your services are no longer needed” and they really are not needed in this case.
I would have done this even if I would have had to shutdown, change my legal corporation identity, start all over again as a new business entity, and rehire all new as a new business.
It’s extortion.
AOC shows up and people lose their jobs
Now the textile industry is DEAD in North Carolina. Pick out any small town in North Carolina and you can buy a dead textile mill for pennies on the dollar. The companies moved their operation overseas to places like Bangladesh and Costa Rica.
Could bring AOCs solar hopes to a standstill.
AOC better just take off her shirt and go make me a sandwich.
hold on there boi... their mission is to make money, NOT give you and your RAT friends a job, and WHO said they were progressive???
and the RATS, take another one in the.........HA ha!!!
