Michael Bloomberg, who is mulling a run for the Democratic presidential nomination, will spend $34 million to run just one week of ads bashing President Donald Trump, according to a new report.
The ad campaign is slated to run nearly nationwide beginning on Monday, and comes one day after Bloomberg filed paperwork creating a presidential campaign committee, according to Politico.
Bloomberg is worth $52 billion according to Forbes, and reportedly plans to spend up to $500 million of his fortune seeking the presidency.
The gargantuan ad buy is possibly the largest one-week spend in U.S. political history, eclipsing the $30 million then-President Barack Obama dropped in a week while seeking re-election in 2012.
The initial ad buy will see ads running in all but two of the contiguous 48 states, according to tracking firm Advertising Analytics.
Bloomberg committed this past week to spending $100 million in digital ads aimed just at Trump and another $15 to $20 million to register half a million voters.

If he wants the Dem nomination, why is going to run anti-Trump ads? The whole Dem party is already anti-Trump. Shouldn’t he be running ads to promote himself or to denigrate his opponents?
Beat me to “A fool and his money.”
Best commercial this season is for cat treats. Little kid under the Christmas tree shaking presents. All of a sudden dozen of cats chase him down the street. Narrator say, “Careful what you shake.”
Your wasting your money shorty
This answers the question why he entered the race. He obviously wants to donate $100mm to the Democratic party, but there’s not obvious way to do that without a lot of campaign finance tripwires. But you can spend an unlimited amount on your own campaign, even if all you do is criticize Trump.
If he wasn’t “running”, could he openly spend this much on anti-Trump ads?
He is spending it on defaming Trump? He should be spending it on why he should be President.
Has he released his tax returns?
Chump change; just like Steyer, he isn’t running - instead, he’s just paying to help the DNC try to lower the turnout against PDJT. Fail!
Steyer’s commercials still run.
Worked well with Tom Steyer.
I keep wondering where and how he amassed that kind of wealth. What has he done in his life other than politics?
ORANGE MAN BAD!
Spend big time OCD Mikey. If you are blowing it on a presidential loss you are not spending it on gun control, sugary drinks, or any of your other OCD craziness.
I have been seeing those Steyer ads as of late he is an ass and he has a lisp. Don’t they usually wait until they get the nomination? I haven’t seen any other candidates ads.
Give me the 34 million, I will badmouth Trump....it will have just as much an effect and I will be much happier.....
