I had thought back in 2008 that maybe our country would get a good solid dose of character-building pain (c.f. Romans 5:3-5), but it didn't happen that way.

Or maybe it is happening right now. Maybe we are in the era of pain, and character is being reformed through trials.

What we need most of all -- all of us -- is humility. Real, deep humility. The kind that comes from suffering.

Or maybe it's just me.

Too much pride and arrogance.. in sin. I use to be one of ‘em. Unfortunately it might take some great upheaval.. and only then will that humility return.
