This have something to do with his Odius Lunch Guests today?
My sense of Donald Trump is that he ignores nothing and listens to everyone and everything. Then relies on his reading of things and does what he wants anyway. Instincts, you could say. Hes got a good track record of being right, so I wouldnt bet against him.

The Constitution empowers the Senate to make and enforce its own rulesno other entity has a say. The Senate cannot ignore the Constitution and it's rules cannot supercede it. The Constitution says the Senate will try all impeachments so there will be a trial.

Contrary to your wish, the Constitution does not contain any enforcement mechanism to specify or regulate how the Senate proceeds: it makes its own impeachment rules and procedures, as does the House. The Senate and later the voters judge the House's performance, but only the voters judge the Senate's.

Expect a lot of bending to the will of Majority leader Schumer. You can take it to the bank that the backstabbing POS McConnell will allow Schumer to run the show and set up the rules to his liking. Mitch is a snake.
