WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's former Russia adviser Fiona Hill urged lawmakers in the House of Representatives impeachment inquiry on Thursday not to promote "politically driven falsehoods" that cast doubt on Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
In her prepared testimony, Hill said some members of the House Intelligence Committee, based on their questions and statements, appear to believe that Russia and its security services did not conduct a campaign against the United States during the 2016 presidential race and that perhaps Ukraine did.
Hill appeared to be referring to some of President Donald Trump's Republican allies and defenders on the committee in the impeachment inquiry focusing on his actions toward Ukraine.
"This is a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services themselves," said Hill, who until July served as the director for European and Russian affairs at the White House National Security Council.
"In the course of this investigation, I would ask that you please not promote politically driven falsehoods that so clearly advance Russian interests," she said.
Some Republican members of the committee have advanced a discredited conspiracy theory, embraced by Trump and some of his allies in Congress and the conservative media, that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the last presidential election.
Thursday's hearing marks the fifth and last scheduled day of public hearings by the Democratic-led House Intelligence Committee. The inquiry is focused on Trump's June 25 telephone request that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading contender in the field of Democrats seeking to challenge Trump in the 2020 election. Trump also asked Zelenskiy to investigate the debunked conspiracy theory that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election.

In the emerging narrative, any pressure on, skepticism of or demand to Ukraine is prima facie proof you are a Russian agent and traitor to the USA.
And investigations are de facto sedition.
>>That statement is broadly applicable to Republican voters in general. We keep sending squishy politicians to Washington<<
In defense of American “republican” voters, politicians perfect the art of deception and manipulation...we all know this.
Often times, what is hoped/believed to be the most conservative or right leaning candidate makes it to office with voter support...to then discover they not only are not conservative, but lean center left with an R by their name.
Incumbency is a tall order for voters to overcome particularly when these people become part of the swamp. They garner millions in donations from other swamp creatures.
Voters get played.
“Hill recycling the same old game of the Democrat Fascist Party.”
There’s a LOT of Republicans in that crew.
Any positive word, or neutral silence concerning Russia or Putin, or any negative word or neutral silence concerning Ukraine (and soon to be NATO entirely) is met with a barrage from the Neocons. Both Democrat and Republican.
Just like the Putin shamers here on FR.
And wants to send YOUR kids to war.
Scott Adams was mocking her in his Periscope this morning.
In her opening statement, she apparently accused the Republicans of ignoring the Russian meddling in favor of the Urkaine meddling.
In his prelude to the day's testimony, Nunes dragged out a YUGE stack of paper detailing the Republican investigations into Russian meddling, and had it deposited next to her the table.
Told her that she was free to refer to it at any time during the day...

The two Soviet Apparatchiks in charge of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant are trying to cover their asses with the Big Politburo people because they have been outright falsifying the extent of the radiation and disaster.
However the Soviet government actually brought in someone who actually knew what he was doing, but is immediately overridden and outranked by the Apparatchiks because confirming a Communist Nuclear Power-plant blew up isn't Politically Correct.
HOWEVER, you can ignore reality, but reality won't ignore you.

+100!!
Hey Fiona The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold Wars been over for 20 years
.
-Barack Obama, the smartest man in the room if its empty.
"When the truth is found....to be lies..."
Yeah some have, like senator Whitehouse. These people don’t even think, Trump gave lethal aid like antitank missiles used to destroy Russian tanks - to please Putin??
Hill is another lying SOS. The rats seem to have an endless supply.
We gotta be running out of decoder rings by now.

I agree with ALL of your comments.
And it is certainly true that politicians become professional liars because they desperately want both money and votes. The easiest way to get both is to lie.
Trust me, the money is knocking at their door everyday. They get more face time with our reps than we do. In Washington money talks — loudly.
Also once installed in office they have great perks, privileges, and a sizeable staff in DC and their regional offices. So there a fairly quick transition from being an outsider to insider (future Swamp dweller).
It is up to us to return these deceivers back to wherever they came from if they don’t measure up.
Many of them are Republicans.
Yeah, leftist Republicans.
Sorry Fiona. Obama was warned about Russian interference in 2014, and never did anything about it, or advised candidate Trump about it. But I’m sure he authorized Hillary to use that unconfirmed information to attack Donald Trump with. Donald Turmp wasn’t the one who cut a quid pro quo deal with Russia to give 20% of our uranium to them in exchange for donations to the Clinton Fraud Fund, and half a million dollars in speaking fees paid to Bill Clinton. Now please tell me who the Russians were rooting for?
