Taking care of the poor and oppressed is a PERSONAL DUTY of the Christian, not one they can push off onto the Govt to do for them

One of my favorite lines on this topic comes from the Howie Carr in the Boston Globe in the 90's. Ted Kennedy had call a proposed tax cut "unchristian". Howie Carr (from memory):

"Ted, as I read the Biblle, Chritianity is about taking what's yours and giving it to your neighbor. Not taking what's your neighbor's and giving it to your other neighbor."

You are so correct. Liberals are very generous with other people's money, but they are stingy with their own money. Surveys have shown that conservatives (especially Christians) give 30% more than liberals (across ALL economic levels) in terms of money donated to charities, time given to charities, and even blood given to blood banks. That is a fact.It is cited in a book by Arthur Brooks, "Who Really Cares."
