Good. South Korea has had decades to find a solution or learn to defend themselves.

I agree. They hate us anyway. We should pull our troops out of Europe. 75 years of baby sitting those America hating weasels is long enough.

“Good. South Korea has had decades to find a solution or learn to defend themselves.”

I read an analysis some years ago about SK’s defense posture. They have been buying a weapon’s mix designed to support the US in a big power war instead of the cheaper one they need for shorter ranges. They have bought long range jets designed to fight other jets when they needed fewer of those and more land attack planes. So, they have been supporting the US arms industry by buying things they didn’t need for themselves. This makes those purchases cheaper for the US because outside orders keep the production lines active and the workers trained.

There is a lot more to the situation that isn’t covered in articles we see today.

“Good. South Korea has had decades to find a solution or learn to defend themselves.”

We are the official side against the North Korean regime. The armistice was signed by an American general and a North Korean general, with the U.S. also representing the United Nations Command the North Korean general also representing China.

Getting a peace treaty will not be achieved by South Korea alone, and they can do nothing to get a peace with the North that the North will not agree to. The only “peace” the North wants is unification of the country ON ITS TERMS. They do not even recognize the government of South Korea as legitimate. The North Korean constitution declares the government of North Korea to be the government of all Korea. THAT will never be on the table in any negotiations with North Korea.

Your comment that all it would have taken these last decades was for the government of South Korea to do something on its own to make peace is total ignorance of the current status and the history.
