Chick-fil-A: Catering to the liberal mob
frc.org ^ | 11/19/19 | Tony Perkins

Most of us who were there on that sunny August day will never forget. For everyone else, there's a sign: "Above this plaque is a bullet hole. It marks the heroic action taken by Family Research Council employee Leo Johnson on August 15, 2012." That was the morning Floyd Corkins walked into our lobby and changed FRC forever. He'd bought a gun and learned how to use it. He'd loaded three magazines. In his backpack was a stash of chicken sandwiches that he planned to smear in the faces of staffers he hoped to kill. "They endorse Chick-fil-A," he said. It would be a "statement against the people who work there."

Thanks to Leo, it was a statement he never got to make. Fourteen days after someone snapped a picture of our staff smiling over boxes of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, Leo was the only thing standing between Floyd Corkins and an FRC massacre. To a lot of Americans, the company's decision to walk away from years of biblical truth is upsetting. To us, it's personal.

In the days and years after that, we never talked publicly about Chick-fil-A's response to the shooting. Mainly because there wasn't one. Through all of the press conferences, the trial, and sentencing, I never once picked up the phone or opened my email to a message from someone at headquarters. Not even to ask about Leo. Obviously, Chick-fil-A wanted then what they want publicly now: as much distance from our movement as possible.

Doesn’t sound like America when you have to keep your opinions to yourself.

Pleading the 5th is very American

Why say something that will get you into court?

Even if you end up winning, you would have spent 100-300K in legal fees, was your mouthing off really worth that?

I wish it wasn’t that way, but that is the society we live in.

President Trump, was step 1 on turning this country around, we need him to be president for the next 50 years just to undo all of this nonsense.

If you are rich individual with a great set of lawyers who can bring your case to the Supreme Court, where it would need to go anyways, and you can afford 1-2 million in lawyers fees, go for it, mouth off at the protected class. If not, I would advise against it.

If more people told off the Big Anus Gaystapo, they wouldn't be regarded as a "protected class."

The normal practice regarding them for most of this nation's existence was to lock up these mentally ill perverts in insane asylums. Now we let them run our television and movie system.

Talking back to them should not be a matter for the courts. That shows just how much damage has been done to our legal system that the courts even get involved in crap like this.

These people used to be regarded as "non compos mentis" by the courts, but now the courts are mentally ill themselves.

That’s why they forced CFA to cave—so WE would abandon them. Then they can laugh as they’ve ruined another business/organization.

I agree

However, can you afford to do it?

They have been building their lobby since the 70’s, they have been after Chick Fil A for decades, they finally “won” here, think of the millions that Chick Fil A did donate, now they are changing and consolidating their donations to a few groups. Did they win? Sure, it looks like it, but it took them years, tons of man hours, etc to win this. I have to give them credit (Gaystopo) they don’t give up.

And if you think about it, if Chick Fil A did not donate a single dime to any charity, they would not be in this position. Then zero dollars would have gone to those groups and they would not have the Gaystopo banging down their doors for the past couple decades.

Its a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kinda move. They were better off never giving a single dollar to any charity, and honestly, that is sad.

I don’t know what it will do to the quality of their chicken sandwiches since I won’t eat them. I turned them down today at a conference where their sandwiches were being served. I paid for my own elsewhere.

Don't know how religious you are, but this reminds me of the story of David. After arriving in the Israeli military camp to see his brothers, he saw Goliath out there mocking their King and mocking their warriors and I believe he said something along the lines of

"Will no one go out there and shut up that loud mouthed Philistine?"

His brothers said something like "Shhhhhh!!! He'll hear you!"

:)

That's about where we are. Gayliath is still out there intimidating and we ought to be fighting back.

First thing we do, is we destroy the propaganda apparatus being used against us.

Just think chick fil a is awful

I wouldn’t eat at CFA if they paid me too and they were donating all their profits to Trumps campaign. Food is awful. Can anyone tell me the fascination with this place. Would rather eat Mc Donald’s.

I agree

I look at Chick Fil A as a victim of this not the aggressor, their number one goal is to provide and serve the best Chicken sandwiches they can make, while doing that they employ tons of people, purchase tons of materials, pay tons of local, state, federal taxes. Their business benefits everyone, even non customers. They are the number 1 fast food restaurant in sales and are only open 6 days a week.

Chick Fil A is being prosecuted by the Gaystopo for guilt by association, they don’t discriminate anywhere in their restaurants and hire people who are willing to work. No signs that say gays are not welcomed in their establishments nor do they ask questions about being gay to get a job there either. They are accused of this by donating to groups that do not promote the homosexual lifestyle and therefore are automatically guilty of being anti-LGTQP because of that. This is silly, ridiculous and sad.

I agree, we should be focused on the LGBTQ propaganda machine and their media sycophants, not their victims.

Chick-Fil-A Is not a helpless damsel-in-distress, they are a ridiculously successful corporation that could have easily held their ground.

Never said they were

But the change in policy because it was costing them the ability to expand in certain markets

Why are they not allowed to change corporate policy?

What if they never donated a single dollar to any charity? Then they wouldn’t even have this problem. That is how I look at it.

I don’t demand nor expect any company to donate to charities that I like or support, I can do that myself. These charities received these gifts over decades, Chick Fil A helped them out, now they changed policy, everything eventually comes to an end. I don’t see it as a bad thing, I really don’t even see it as a win for the Homo lobby, which is upset over anything and everything. They worked on this for decades, those charities and organizations received that money for decades. Also just because they ended/suspended it now, doesn’t mean they won’t start it back up again later down the road, or disperse the funds in a different way.

The question of whether they can change corporate policy is a distraction.

Of course they can change.

The REALITY is that corporations donate. Increasingly those donations go to causes they I don’t’ like (and I’m assuming you don’t like).

Also increasingly, donations are being removed from causes I like (and perhaps causes that you like).

The fact that you can donate to whomever you want is irrelevant for this discussion.

If you don’t see this as a win for the gay-lobby and Leftism in general, then I really have to question your cognitive abilities.

Chick-Fil-A will resume their donations to Salvation Army, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes? How many corporations that cave resume their previous donations? I don’t know of any. If I’m wrong, then I’ll gladly eat crow...but I don’t think I am. But then again...maybe that’s just me thinking too highly of myself.

Wait....boycotts and protests DID work. Chic-Fil-A changed it’s corporate donating policy.
