You are correct. Likewise for Master and Senior Chief (Petty Officers). Maybe a better analogy would be Lt. Governors being addressed as Governors (in states that have them).

...normal protocol when verbally addressing “two part” military ranks.I can’t speak for the Army, but it’s a Navy regulation that LCDRs are addressed as “Commander.”
They even authorized swords!
