I seem to remember, at the onset of this ish show, the Repubs kvetching that none of their witnesses had been called and pushing Schiff for a timeline on when they can expect an response to their request for such.

The enlisted oath and the National Guard officers oath both pledge or affirm or swear to the president.
If a person becomes an officer not having gone thru either of those, there is no pledge or affirm or swear to the president.
