It’s not just about pedophilia, I believe it’s actually about what sets the boundaries for admissions into the truly elite. I think that Epstein and the numerous sex crimes that have been exposed and are being exposed paint a picture of a communal dark secret that they use to keep or distinguish themselves as elite. You know you are a member of the club because you and many members all share in the same criminal activity. Hence you can’t eat anyone out because in a way you are just as guilty.

In the Mafia, you could not be a "made man" unless you killed someone with another "made man" as witness. Similarly, in many gangs, you need to commit a felony as initiation.
I see this as an initiation activity. You aren't really trusted as part of the group until you partake in the initiation.
