The grocery store chain near me has instructed their employees not to try to stop anybody from stealing. They are worried one of the employees might get hurt. Or, what if the thief runs aways and gets hit by a car and sues the store! (wtf??)

A friend that works there tells me the stories. Laundry soap iirc is a big draw as it gets big cash on the street. Folks will walk out with a cart full of it and the employees can’t/don’t do anything.

One should walk to the cart, and tip it over. The thief won’t bother to pick it up. Repeat as necessary.

If the situation gets very bad, the employees might be out of a job. We’ve had a grocery store and a drug store in our area close recently. Rumor is both closed due to shrinkage. Apparently companies prefer to close stores rather than prosecute offenders.
