Parts of the military are part of deep state. Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, Vindmen, etc. see themselves as patriots preventing people like Trump from implementing their agendas. DOD has its own culture and values. It will protect what it deems as important. There is only a thin veneer of political appointees who oversee the bureaucracy. And the political appointees come and go. The bureaucracy remains. Look how Trump was thwarted when he tried to remove our military presence in Syria.

Yeah, I assumed as much.

I'm just wondering if there would also be a division among the troops, and division between them and certain members of DOD leadership.

I wish I knew. General Flynn was kneecapped by not only Clapper, Brennan, and Comey, but also by the Pentagon. It was DOD’s Office of Net Assessment that was paying Halper to set up Flynn as some sort of Russian asset, the product of an alleged romantic liaison with a Russian Brit who is now suing Halper for damaging her reputation. These people are vicious who will do anything to take down people who don’t go along with the program. Even the former head of DIA is fair game.

Yup. Enlisted, NCOs, Warrants and and company grade officers are 3-1 conservative.

By field grade (Major-Colonel/Lt Commander-Navy Captain) it’s 50-50.

By the time thy reach flag officer (generals/admirals) they’ve had to kiss so much ass/become politicians, it is 2-1 democrat lovers.

The brass just might encounter fragmentation grenades if they push too hard.
