The UKs opposition Labour party has promised it will give free full-fiber broadband to every home and business in the country if it wins Britains upcoming December elections.
The party said it would nationalize part of UK telecoms firm BT to achieve its goal, and introduce new taxes on Silicon Valley tech giants like Apple and Facebook to fund the networks maintenance.
The announcement took the business world by surprise, with shares in BT dropping four percent in early trading before recovering to a roughly two percent fall. The chief executive of the company Philip Jansen told the Financial Times that free broadband for all was an appealing prospect, but would need to be carefully considered.

They promise broadband, they will deliver “baudband”...perhaps 56k or so... it’s the socialist way.
I know someone who called the TV the *plug in drug*
The Brits oughta have a t(v)-party. Toss their goggle boxes into the Thames.
British election campaigns traditionally feature batty promises by the parties which quietly vanish once they’re elected. This year there’s a particularly rich crop. The Tories are at it too. There’s been an article by the current Conservative Transport Secretary, promising to reinstate all the small branch train lines which were axed in the notorious ‘Beeching Review’ of the 1960s: this despite the fact that most of them have subsequently been built over.
Corbyn doesn’t want a trade deal with the US, he wants supplication to the EU, but it doesn’t matter, he won’t get in. Deep down Labour know they are fked so they can afford to come out with a load of fantasy student political BS.
.and today, not to be outdone, we have the LibDems promising to plant 60 million trees a year....
Any country can tax any company on earnings made in that country, it can’t really tax a foreign company on earnings made in other countries though.
That said, Corbyn can come up with any fantasy nonsense he wants, he isn’t going to win this election. He is the most hated and unpopular Labour leader ever. The British working classes are finally turning their backs on Labour having finally realised that they are more interested in representing bourgouis liberals from the metropolis and their favourite ‘victim’ groups from gays to various ethnic minorities (except for jews).
