Democracy depends on the consent of the losers. For most of the 20th century, parties and candidates in the United States have competed in elections with the understanding that electoral defeats are neither permanent nor intolerable. The losers could accept the result, adjust their ideas and coalitions, and move on to fight in the next election. Ideas and policies would be contested, sometimes viciously, but however heated the rhetoric got, defeat was not generally equated with political annihilation. The stakes could feel high, but rarely existential. In recent years, however, beginning before the election of Donald Trump and accelerating since, that has changed.
Our radical Democrat opponents are driven by hatred, prejudice, and rage, Trump told the crowd at his reelection kickoff event in Orlando in June. They want to destroy you and they want to destroy our country as we know it. This is the core of the presidents pitch to his supporters: He is all that stands between them and the abyss.
In October, with the specter of impeachment looming, he fumed on Twitter, What is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP, intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of The United States of America! For good measure, he also quoted a supporters dark prediction that impeachment will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal.
Trumps apocalyptic rhetoric matches the tenor of the times. The body politic is more fractious than at any time in recent memory...

Let it be known WE DO NOT CONSENT to the weakening of any Amendment in the Bill of Rights.
None of them.
Nor the rest of the Constitution for that matter, even if done under color of law.
And we have 300 million guns and billions of rounds of ammo. And we are not opposed to resolving our grievances outside the law if necessary.
Yes, but I see it as a hyperbolic curve. We were not perfect in the past, but at least, as a culture, we embraced many values with millennia of consistency. That was slowly changing, starting in the 50’s, but it has seriously ramped up the last 20, and especially the last 10 years. Trump’s election has created a veritable temper tantrum by the leftist globalists. If he wins in November, I suspect they will come absolutely unglued.
My only question is, when does it reach the “critical mass” necessary for the right to participate with the full force of their NRA membership. It is important for the silent majority to be “slow to anger”, but eventually, well, even they can say “enough is enough”.
The key is to ensure that they always have “too much to lose”.
When middle class American whites decided to stop having children. We voted by not raising enough kids in two-parent households, and by ceding the raising of the few children we do have to day care centers instead of households.
By doing that, we sentenced ourselves to eventual minority status. It's really that simple. No politician in the GOP would dare to stand up today and declare out loud "Stay together and have more babies to win in 2050!" yet that's exactly the message that needs to go out.

“But what will the left do if he wins?”
that indeed is the other side of the coin for the left ... i actually don’t think they’ll do much more than piss and moan and whine some more, though i expect their sporadic violence will be more frequent and perhaps intensify ...
i’d be somewhat surprised if any/many have the gumption, energy, and knowledge to reprise the kinds of horrific bombings and bank robberies pulled off by the Weathermen and the like.
on a more fun note, though, i expect that President Trump during his second term with both branches of Congress AND SCOTUS behind him will totally clean house and launch initiatives that make his first term look like kingergarten ... now THOSE things might drive the psychotic left into a true frenzy ...
SHTF is coming. It’s easy to see it. Our side isn’t going to sit by.
Don’t bother reading.
I guess Rome never happened?
That was my first thought exactly. *LOL*
The Atlantic is finally figuring out the mass immigration is going to destroy the country. As was intended.
Rhodesia was once the “Breadbasket of Africa”, and Venezuela was the “Oil Capital of South America”. Now, they are just basket cases.
If you wish to play semantics, I would argue that the U.S. is not a democracy, and it has never been ‘stable’. There has a been a war between Federalists and Populists since Hamilton and Jefferson had their first disagreement.
No truth, no justice. No justice, no America. Sophisticated 3rd-world politicos with nukes.
