I was born when Truman was president but the first one I remember is Ike. Carter surely was the one who provided the best comic relief. Who of sufficient age cannot forget brother Billie, the beer swilling buffoon or Secretary of Agriculture Butts who was overheard by a reporter on a plane telling one of his good old boys about the only three things a black male really wants. Even this old white boy appreciates a warm place to drop that duece.
Same here...1947. I remember Ike too. "I like Ike." I remember Adali Stevenson too, running for President on the Democrat ticket. My Dad was an FDR Democrat. Came here as a little boy from Holland with his parents and two brothers in 1914. He worked on the New York Central Railroad for over 50 years, and belonged to the Union, so of course he was a Democrat. If he were alive today, he would not recognize the Democrat party at all.

Don’t forget Halderman and Hamilton Jordan....two clowns that spent a lot of drunk nights in DC harassing the ladies.
I think it was Tip O’Neil that said - when asked by JC what to do with the duo, Tip basically said he should ship their asses back to Georgia...
Also, don’t forget Mama Lillian Carter and sister Ruth..
Could probably pass as a disfunctional family and got wealth and fame in spite of it
The one you are talking about is Butz and he served under Nixon.
