Don Cherry has been fired by Sportsnet following remarks made on Coachs Corner Saturday evening.

We just dropped sportsnet from our cable package. It was quick and easy to do online.
And he is 100% right on the money!
Dandy Don is certainly correct that “multi-cultural” Canada is totally absent from Remembrance Danceremonies.
For them it is just another holiday. They have no family history in any of it.
Of course, neither does French Quebec have any family history in WW1 or WW2 - except as draft dodgers !
Every word he uttered is truthful wrt a great many self absorbed, entitled immigrants. No appreciation or care for the traditions of their host nation.
I’m sure the 85 yo Don Cherry was aware of the likely consequence of his statement and made the statement anyway. On principle. Network programming being the Leftists they are canned him immediately. I wonder what hockey fans reaction this will be?
“that’s absent from Remembrance Day Ceremonies”
At least from the printed excerpts I can’t see where he made any comment directed at immigrants per-se.
Only noted that there was a lot less reverence for Remembrance Day in the big cities. Could be native-born Canucks there are too liberal to have any.
Really disappointed that after decades working together Ron McLean is tripping all over himself trying to disavow Cherry.
Including the Current PM's daddy.....
"So there was a war? Tough ... if you were a French Canadian in Montreal in the early 1940s, you did not automatically believe that this was a just war ... we tended to think of this war as a settling of scores among the superpowers." - Pierre Trudeau
Just remember, you have to say it in both English and French.
Lotta corporate censorship going on lately....
Without looking at it, I know it must have been a rant that offends progressive values, because no one gets fired for a rant offending conservative values.
What on earth did he say that was offensive?
He’s right, regardless. Immigrants to Canada aren’t going to feel the same way about Remembrance Day as native born Canadians who grew up with it.
Very true, forgot to mention that in my post. Seems like people are becoming afraid to say anything un-PC. The new USSR is being born in front of our eyes. From time to time I write letter to PM, what a impossible country Canada has become. No one answered. On the other hand, I live in Yukon. Guess they don't care that much :-)
Does anybody remember Brent Musberger throwing Jimmy the Greek under the bus over his comments?
Don spoke the truth about what he has seen in Toronto and small towns and western towns. There was nothing wrong with a thing he said. No wonder Ron was nodding along and gave a thumbs up. He agreed because he has observed the same thing. Then his betters weighed in.
This is known as a gaff. It means telling the truth.
Don Cherry a man who will tell you exactly where to kiss his ass!
So Rare--Don Cherry (1957)
A gaffe is when you unintentionally say what you really think.
There is nothing unintentional about Don Cherry.
