What I was verrrrry thankful for:

Almost no PC stuff.

Not saying it was right wing, I’m just saying there wasn’t the typical stuff:

Vaguely homo pilot/gunner romance, super sexy chick in a bodysuit flipping her hair around as she knocks-out CIA contractors, “Love fighting the honorable Japanese, yet I’m so ashamed THAT I’M WHITE..!”

None of that stuff AT ALL.

What a weird relief.

One tiny shortcoming:

When the guys first found the fleet, they all got buck fever so hard and fast that they ALL angrily pounced on the very first carrier.

But there were FOUR Jap carriers, right..?

That meant that first guy would get sunk 20 times over, with no US bombs left for the rest of the three perps.

It was only the foresight of one American pilot caught up in that first frenzied, crowded dive that pried some of the other guys off that first, frenzied gang-bang.

He pried them off at the last second and properly re-distributed them onto the other remaining carriers.

By great luck the last carrier kill of the first 3 destroyed ended up totally destroyed by just ONE bomb, and it was the last bomb remaining.

That was because of the wild success of that first sinking, which I think involved over 9 bombs, 5 hits.

Amen. It was a good movie. It’s for the reasons you mentioned that I check with movieguide.org to check the content before I go see it. Uninterested in seeing a homosexual/feminist propaganda/indoctrination film.

I just saw a commercial for a WWI movie called 1917. It looks pretty good from the trailer but I’ll have to look into it to find out. I’m watching Hacksaw Ridge right now.

Arcane historical point:

All wounded Japanese rescued at sea at Midway carried in their heads dangerous info in their heads regarding the depth of their Midway Defeat.

They all got hospitalized in the same place, the better to keep the Midway Defeat a secret, as nearly as was possible.

They were not officially interned, but....yeah, uh...they were.

The Japanese Leadership absolutely wanted to keep a lid on that.

In Japan, there were basically just rumors.

Glad to hear it, gaijin.

The last war movie I watched that I payed the price of a movie ticket for was “USS Indianapolis-Men of Courage”. Normally, I don’t go out of my way to see war movies from Hollywood (The last exception before that being “American Sniper” which I found very good)

Now, I should have been wary, given Nicholas Cage played the leading role in that movie, and he is a Libtard extraordinare, but...I couldn’t help it.

I have been interested in the plight of the USS Indianapolis and her crew, even before the movie “Jaws”, and I was able to spend several hours one day with one of the highest ranking survivors. I felt the pulse of history there.

So, when the movie came out, you couldn’t rent it online, so I bought it. Big mistake. It was the stupidest, most politically correct Hollywoodized war movie...I couldn’t watch more than the first 15 minutes. I couldn’t even watch it past the Indianapolis leaving port to go to sea, it was that bad.

Another one I watched that actually enraged me was the movie “The Monuments Men” some years back. What a story (I read the book) that would have been a treasure for many Americans to see this aspect of our country, and...Hollywood turned it into a fricking cartoon, and a vehicle for the scumbag George Clooney to wear aviator shades in uniform. It still pisses me off, they took a GREAT story and destroyed it utterly.

So I am somewhat gratified to hear others on a site like FR discuss it in reasonable terms.

Personally, I have been waiting for a movie on a momentous WWII naval battle that had good CGI...this would fit the bill.

I hold out hope for a movie someday “The Battle of Leyte Gulf”...there is a lot to work with there. With good CGI, it would be astonishingly good, as long as they tell the story.
