going by memory, the Enterprise bombers jumped Kaga, the coincidentally arriving Yorktown bombers jumped Soryu,

then Richard Best observed the overkill on Kaga, broke off with two wingmen and jumped Akagi, and Best’s bomb landed among the parked bombers and their ordnance in the hangar.

Hiryu escaped until late afternoon because she was the furthest north of the 4 Japanese carriers.

Yes it was a feeding frenzy on Kaga, but thank God for Richard Best.
