No, they’re exactly the same.

Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see that.

The cops should curb stomp these black clad “protesters” who are destroying Hong Kong.

“Everyone supports the movement.”

I believe the majority of HKers do, but you’d have to come up with some polls to make a claim like that. But, at any rate, you don’t win friends and influence people by messing up their daily lives.

There’s no end in sight for the protests. It can easily last into Chinese New Year 2020.

You really haven’t been paying attention. It’s the CIA plants that are agitating. They want the Chinese to come in, we cut off talks and jack up the tariffs. We impose sanctions and we ruin their economy while covering for the debt melt down in the US. And Xi gets the blame.

How is that for a theory?

I lived in HK for nearly 20 years. I can actually vote in the elections there. Not everyone supports the movement and many that generally supported it at first no longer do so.

Most people in Hong Kong just want to get on with their lives at this point. They want the prices of food and housing to stabilize. They want their beautiful, clean, safe city back. That doesn’t mean they want to ignore the problems in HK but the protests are doing nothing to solve those issues

I am not sure who exactly is protesting anymore or what they are protesting about as the government completely backed off the law they were upset about. Though, it appears to be mainly young people - college students. My personal experience is that many such students in HK are incredibly naive politically.

What is certain is that the protesters have moved beyond protest when they stabbed a Legco member last week. (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/05/world/asia/junius-ho-stabbed-hong-kong.html)

Saying the majority of Hong-Kongers support such actions is slanderous.

It is a tragedy that the greatest city in Asia is going to either tear itself apart or be consumed by the PRC. The protesters are not, at this point helpful. That said the government has not handled lots of stuff very well either.

No, contrary to what some fools here have called me, I am not a shill for the PRC or closet communist.

> “I believe the majority of HKers do, but you’d have to come up with some polls to make a claim like that.”

Polls can be biased depending on who did them, but there is a realistic way to tell the amount of support the protesters have.

Over a hundred thousand Hong Kong people gathered today to mourn a youth who died after he was suspected to have been severely beaten by police in the head and then thrown over the railing from a third floor parking lot onto the second floor (the distance is not big enough to match the injuries sustained; and the police obstructed and delayed the ambulance at the scene from reaching the victim for half an hour.)

This is a large turnout considering the fact that many routes of the Mass Transit System have been regularly shut down to prevent the recurrence of massive protests where millions of people can participate.

> “But, at any rate, you don’t win friends and influence people by messing up their daily lives.”

That is true and no doubt many people are inconvenienced by the actions of some of the protesters, but apparently they are a lot more angered by the lawlessness of the police to the point they share the frustrations of the protesters. They also know they are facing a grave threat of having Hong Kong fast becoming like China if they don’t do anything.

And here is the latest outrage they have to contend with: a 16-year-old girl was pregnant and had to undergo an abortion a couple of days ago after she was gang-raped INSIDE A POLICE STATION where she was detained back in September. The case is now in the hands of lawyers but nobody expects the police to cooperate in any investigation.

Unfortunately the way things are going, it is difficult to see a peaceful end to the protests, now that they even try to prosecute the opposition lawmakers. Since the Hong Kong people have nothing while the communists have all the fire power and the courts, more people will die or suffer serious injures and put in jail, and things can only get worse. Perhaps the protesters should consider biding their time and wait for the CCP to collapse?

I didn't say that at all.

You've rather jumped the shark and exposed your allegiance, 同志。

Here’s just one example. Armed antifa thugs ambush police:

My Hongkonger friends are pissed off at these assholes. They are the bad guys, but the fake western press makes them seem like they are some sort of saints.

They are vicious thugs, not only attacking police but also civilians, including knifings and beating up elders on the subway. Then when the police show up to protect people, the antifa assholes turn on their video cameras and make it seem like they are the victims when they in fact are the aggressors.

I dont feel sorry for any of these pepper ball jack wagons. Ambushing small groups of cops who are armed and there to keep you from doing just that is no way to get anything accomplished except providing us with footage of how stupid these people are. Antifa level mentality for sure. Roll the tanks and smoosh this nonsense.

Ain’t Communism great!?!
