Head water lakes such as Norris, are land locked, but downstream from them, you can go all the way to New Orleans if you wish

Head water lakes, such as Fontana, are widely variable
Watts Bar Lake and Fort Loudoun Lake for example are near constant

I also live in San Diego. I think San Diego is “purpler” than other big Californian cities because of the military bases nearby. Military people tend to vote conservative. Also antifa doesn’t seem to be as big a problem here. Why riot when you can just enjoy a cold drink at the beach? The Bay Area, of course, is a whole other kettle of fish.

My parents are in their 60s and they just bought their dream home, 15-45 minutes drive from where I live (depending on traffic lol). They also intend to live the rest of their lives in California.

I have finally convinced my aged parents to pack up and leave. They’re moving here to be with family. Should happen by the end of this year.

Assuming that it is primarily Republicans and conservatives who are feeling California, how can we account for states like Colorado, Nevada and Arizona starting to get a bluer tinge?

I can answer that!

Even states like Texas have a conga line of leftist running the universities and public school systems. Liberals gravitate to these government jobs. And year in year out, what do the public schools produce? Indoctrinated brainwashed young adults ready to vote and parrot all that liberal propaganda that's been beat into their skulls.

Year after year you have a whole new crop of the indoctrinated liberals coming out of these liberal institutions. For the most part they're homegrown leftist who are turning some of these states blue.

It's even flowing into churches. I guess that's no surprise, as churches cater to the community, and they need these brainwashed young people to fill their pews and collection plates. So now we have churches that support all of the same SJW stuff the public schools and universities are pushing, and bending scripture to suit the congregation.

You bet. It’s high time some of these people complaining start looking inward at their own people in lieu of the typical knee jerk canned complaint, taking the easy way out and blaming people that happened to move to their state.

You have a leftist’s perception of irony. Stay in your Blue State.

I noted you dodged and evaded the legitimate question. Just like a typical leftist. Not real clever slick.☺

I was born, raised and live in a very liberal California coastal city. I’ll be leaving as soon as my mom passes and can’t wait to get out. The rest of my immediate family are not worth ever seeing again, so I have nothing but my mom keeping me here.

I was in Austin TX last week checking out the job market. The cost of living is much less in Austin and people are more friendly but I’m not just looking at Texas.

Having grandkids would not keep me from leaving California.

Many years ago I was found guilty for a crime (misdemeanor) I didn’t commit and had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t even there, and that has left a bad taste in my mouth so many years later.

3 years ago I came home to find an intruder in my house. It turned out to be a 16-year-old kid on drugs who tried to kill me with a 3 foot meat hook. I grabbed my gun and he dropped his weapon, then charged me so I threw him out a window. The cops came, arrested me for brandishing a weapon in my own home and for trashing the kid, even though the kid admitted he wanted to kill me and tried.

The cops took all my guns as I waited for my trial. Six months later the Sheriffs department destroyed all my guns. A year after that the court case was dismissed so I never went to trial but I still lost all my guns.

I don’t have a holier than thou attitude. I’m pissed off beyond words and can’t wait to get out of this cesspool called California.

BTW, the cops actually said I should have run away rather than fight the kid after I told them I feared for my life.

If there’s a next time it will end very differently for the intruder.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I’m still staying. Good enough for Jim Robinson, good enough for me.

Jim’s a good guy for sure, but choosing to stay for that reason seems illogical.

After your “holier than thou” comment I wanted to say not all are leaving for the same reasons.

Fact is for the most part, it’s not liberals bailing out of CA, but conservatives. The dozen or so we personally know of that bailed out of CA to other states were ALL patriotic conservatives.

That may have been the case 10 years ago or more but now I think it’s economic/cost of living refugees of every political stripe. In the Jax, FL area I meet expat Californians working in low pay service jobs. Restaurants, retail, etc. I don’t recall that in the past. There is undoubtedly an exodus of people leaving California for the sun belt states in particular.

What “holier than thou” comment? Please quote the part of my comment you found “holier than thou”. In fact I believe I explicitly stated, “Not judging the Freepers who left, we all have different life circumstances, just explaining why fleeing feels like the wrong thing to do in my circumstances.”

Whoops, sorry about that as that was somebody else. No offense intended at all, I just thought it was an odd comment considering the many reasons people are leaving California.
