Whistleblowers are NOT protected from being outed. They’re protected from being punished for reporting the alleged misconduct/fraud/waste/abuse.

Yes, they can make the complaint anonymously, but at some point, they’re going to have to come across with the goods. At that time they’ll have to meet with an investigator. Make a statement and then, if necessary, be asked to testify. Ergo, you’ll find out who they are.

In this case, they guy leaked information, as we all know. He didn’t blow the whistle on any of the above.

For anybody to suggest that this person should not at least be questioned by representatives from both parties behind closed doors is just implying that nameless and faceless accusers should be able to be a trigger for an impeachment process is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard.

If anything, as this person leaked information they weren’t even a witness to, as well as exposing potentially national security related information, it puts them in the position of traitor - not whistle blower.

I’m at about boiling point - these people are bastardizing the Constitution while claiming to uphold it. It’s not just dishonest, they’re evil.
