The measure was widely opposed by local leaders including the Pima County Sheriff, Tucson Police officials and Tucson's largely Democratic city council and mayor.

Nonsense, “The city of Tucson, in all respects except being labeled as such, operates as a sanctuary city,” Mayor Jonathan Rothschild said. The mayor was only worried about losing millions of dollars in federal funding!

I was very surprised to see this shot down by over 70% of the voters. This says a lot about next year's elections.

Huge numbers of military retiree’s live in Tucson. . .they are the ones who vote and are mostly conservative and vote like that.
