That concerns me too. How would such a war against drug cartels be fought?
Do they have guerilla fighters down there? I would worry we could have initial victories, but then get bogged down in a guerilla war. The cartels are well armed.
And there are people in Mexico who are concerned about any American military in Mexican soil, regardless of the reason for being g there.
Go Trump! He is so right. In addition we need to fix this friggen immigration mess. Who knows how many of these cretins and/or like minded invaders are inside our borders.

Mexican officials would never authorize such a venture. Doing so would be signing both their and their families death warrants at the hands of the cartels — and they know it.

In police work, such a person is referred to as a “hostage”. You ignore their words and proceed as you should. You don’t try to get buy in from the hostage.
