"Legal" does not matter any more.
If a Leftist does it then it is not a crime.
If their opponents object in any way, that is a crime. In particular, self-defense is always considered a crime if a non-Leftist does it.
And the inevitable reaction will evolve to "After the first one, all the rest are free".
