"Such students, like you, have no interest in literature"

Sure I do, but not for the money they charge. Like most, I wasn't born rich. If I want a degree in computer science, why should I have to quote Shakespeare? When will I ever need to? I can study it on my own without paying thousands of dollars. But that's the curriculum that many who want degrees are forced to take.

Have you actually worked in the tech industry? The #1 employer complaint about engineering-type employees is their inability to write clearly.

But BS degree requirements have long been more specialized than BA degrees to keep such classes to a minimum.

No, not really; unless you also buy/get books from the library ab out 1)Shakespearean time/history 2)critques 3) annotated plays 5) see films of, Welles, Olivier and Branagh performing these plays 6) read books about the history of the English theatre 7) read up on those who writing plays at the same time and somewhat before Shakespeare did.

And just WHY did I post the above?

BECAUSE IT IS WHAT THE COURSE I TOOK IN COLLEGE INCLUDED; EXCEPT FOR BRANAGH FILMS.

However, I doubt that what I learned as an undergrad, long ago, is even taught today to those in a Doctoral course; sadly.
