Speaking of evil Europeans there is an irony about the Yankee states abolition movement as it was built on the wealth of the New England Cod trade with Caribbean nation slave plantations.
Don’t forget the wealth made from building ships for the slave trade. Nor the great wealth generated from insuring the cotton cargos to Europe and New England. Don’t forget the wealth derived by Northern ship owners transporting the cotton produced by slave labor to Northern or European manufacturers. Everyone that could make money from slavery did so.
