Some of the more popular drugs permanently damage GABA receptors--especially a few drugs that a few psychologists want legalized (MDMA, benzos, etc.). People who begin to abuse drugs are unaware that they'll soon be feeling long term or permanent swings between anxiety and depression and won't feel good any more. The product of such drugs is the commonly known drug zombie, who continues his decline while fallaciously advocating what is making him miserable and killing him.
