Upside-down "rivers" of warm ocean water may be one of the causes of Antarctica's ice shelves breaking up, leading to a rise in sea levels. But a new study suggests an increase in sea ice in a colder climate may lead to a much more devastating change in the Earth's climate another ice age.
Using computer simulations, the research suggests that an increase in sea ice could significantly alter the circulation of the ocean, ultimately leading to a reverse greenhouse effect as carbon dioxide levels in the ocean increase and levels in the air decrease.
One key question in the field is still what caused the Earth to periodically cycle in and out of ice ages, University of Chicago professor and the study's co-author, Malte Jansen, said in a statement. We are pretty confident that the carbon balance between the atmosphere and ocean must have changed, but we dont quite know how or why."

Yep - it’s just about possible now for them to be wrong about anything.
(except maybe if NOTHING “bad” happens)
If all the ice on earth melted, the sea levels would maybe change a couple of inches.
There’s this thing called cubic meters, and it turns out the oceans have a lot of them.
They are laying the groundwork to blame the new ice age on global warming.
I’ve heard the same thing in “global warming alters the ocean currents, causing any future freezing”.
Not that I disagree with you, but what makes you say that?
.
Stop the presses. New research suggests that ice and cold may lead to an Ice Age. Lol. What is the average IQ of this planet now ? 42 ?
Further new research has discovered that walking toward a 7/11 store will actually get you closer to thr 7/11 store.
Well how about we take this stupid at face value. So, if cold and ice could lead to an Ice Age, do these geniuses still think cooling the planet is a good idea ?
And the 1998 El Nino occurred right in the middle of that slope. That was when the stagnant Pacific Ocean equatorial surface water overheated and evaporated water. Thus rejecting the sunlight heat and bleeding energy from the Pacific. Get some extra wood for the winter. Lol.
I lived through the supposed Ice Age of the 1970s. Now another one? But dont question the Settled Science, you deniers!
the carbon balance ...
The first is that there are microorganisms that metabolize CO2 either consuming, converting to a chemical compound or releasing.
Second, under the astronomical pressures found in the deeper glacial layers CO2 forms a chemical structure and state that is unstable at lower pressures. This is conceptually similar to how CO2 stays in solution in a soda under pressure. When a core of this deep ancient ice is taken, the sudden drop in pressure causes the chemical state to become unstable which creates a sudden outgassing of the CO2 which tends to diffuse the CO2 out of the core sample resulting in a false low reading
There are many other methodological problems with ice core sampling for atmospheric carbon dioxide that renders the method totally unreliable for determination of historic CO2 levels, which is really only a trace gas which makes up only about 400 PPM in our atmosphere. Measuring the atmospheric CO2 of current systems accurately is difficult enough, trying to do so with ice samples from millions of years ago is absurd
Maybe the ice age will cancel out the global warming and everything will be fine. :D
Best heat there is. When burning wood I don’t even know that it is cold outside! Unlike gas furnaces.
