Right. The elites are constantly trying to get the peasants to focus on other bad peasants so they can get away with murder. It just ticks me off to no end that so many people especially conservatives fall for this simple ploy. The government and state media goes around and hypnotizes these ignorant and foolish people with salacious tales of relatively petty criminals as a means of diverting their rage against each other. Why do you think that governments staged public hangings against petty criminals in the 19th century? Take the focus off government crimes.

The real enemy of the people is the federal government. Industrial scale drug dealing, human trafficking, arms sales. Worse that a corner drug dealer, worse than the terrorist worse than China and Russia. Power needs to flow back to the states.

HBSC. The money laundering bank. Drugs, human trafficking, arms.

The unholy trinity dea, cia, fbi. Secrecy breeds corruption.

“In 2018 alone over 47,000 people died from opioid-related overdoses.”

Not nearly enough. Every dead druggie is one less that will be breaking in my home and stealing my stuff.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just spike the illegal drugs coming in with 20% fentanyl?

A volleyball teammate now has custody of his grand daughter because the mother is a heroin addict.

Another friend adopted his wife's 7 year old grandson because the parents are drug addicts.

Another close friend's son was a West Point grad and Army officer assigned to West Point as a class advisor when he died of a drug overdose. While my friend did not want to talk about it, I suspect the addiction began after the son suffered a broken back after the vehicle he was in was hit by an IED in Iraq.

Tons of fentanyl and cocaine are flooding into this country and meth labs are all over the damn place. 4 years ago the son of another guy I know was arrested for running a meth lab in a rented motel room...........2 years in prison.

“Hell, legalize it all and sell it to anyone over 18 in five pound sacks at Safeway and Wal-Mart. In 6 weeks all the idiots will be dead.”

There’d probably be a lot fewer people dead if there was a legal supply of opioids of known potency. Many (most?) of the overdoses we hear about are the result of people using street drugs of highly variable potency.

As long as there are people who lack self control

It's not that easy. There are recreational users and users who are trying to maintain a quality of life without serious physical pain.

lets help the opioid crisis by legalizing weed so our kids can get started early

Since well before any state legalized, kids have reported that they can get weed almost as easily as beer or cigarettes, despite the latter two being much more widely used among adults. This indicates that legalization for adults makes substances less accessible to kids - which stands to reason, since legal sellers usually card and illegal sellers never do.

a series of legislative and regulatory efforts aimed at shutting down bad actors have helped significantly reduce the amount of excess prescription pain medication in the country. As a result, the nature of the crisis has morphed from a prescription problem

Is there any evidence that it was EVER "a prescription problem"?

No. But they know how to cook the books so to speak. Heroin is not prescribes, fentanyl is very seldom prescribed and now there's carfentanil on the streets. But try and get a vicodin for pain these days and docs will be red flagged and patients will be given a drug seeking or drug addicted code.

I just posted the same sentiments on another thread. The government started becoming really hostile toward drug companies in 2012-2013. Very coincidentally(/sarcasm), Heroin started literally being dumped onto the streets in a pure form(the dealers found it cheaper to sell it almost unadulterated than to use ‘cutting’ products) mat very cheap prices. Now they are adding fentanyl to it making the heroin that much more deadly. So guess who was in power when they started cutting off legitimate pain relief to chronic sufferers?...Obama and his cronies, including those at the DEA! By tempting chronic pain sufferers to go to the streets the same way the junkies do, the traffickers have increased their market share and their profits many times. The politicians don’t want the borders closed, they are being paid off and blackmailed by the transborder traffickers!

As for the Chinese being involved; I think they see it as part of the just retribution for the Opium Wars and the crimes the Western nations have inflicted upon them.

The narcs were never that expensive even with out the insurance to pay them. The cut off of supply is coming from the controls and the strict rules being put on physicians to totally justify their prescribing of these drugs to chronic pain sufferers to the point that many doctors won’t prescribe them at all or won’t prescribe them beyond a certain arbitrarily contrived cutoff point after which the sufferer is on his own.(all that paperwork and bothersome liability with the DEA watching, ect). The sufferers are often gaslighted by their doctors with insinuations that they are drug seeking and told to go to pain clinics which may or may not exist in their state.

The clinics that do exist have little to offer other than nsaids,Tramadol,(a sort of very weak homeopathic version of morphine) steroidal injections, Lyrica and neurontins(which do work well for nerve type pain) or “jedi mind trick” exercises that are supposed to make you think that the pain is just imaginary.

Physical therapies can work, till the motion stops for a while and the back and joints get stiff and sore again. That’s it, there really is nothing else for those with the deep or constantly aching gnawing type cronic pains that don’t kill you right away but add to the stress that kills one eventually.
