Cats are obligate carnivores. The less expensive stuff is very problematic anymore. Lots more carbs. I feel for folks who have kitties with health issues. Both my guys do, so the less expensive stuff isn’t an option.

_________

I hear you, but:

All I know is that most of our cats lived to be 15 to 21 years of age, and they ate primarily Purina Cat Chow ............and every good thing off the dinner table (chicken, fish, liver, etc.)

We live out in the suburbs on the edge of the woods, so they had a few mice and other things to chow down on.

;-)

All our guys ate Purina or Fancy Feast until the two I have now. I’ll bet if someone was willing to go back and do an analysis, the cat food we grew up feeding our mews is way better than most of the stuff on the shelves now. The two guys I have now both are mature cats and have health issues, but neither are overweight and both eat very well. Their cat food, both wet and dry, are high in protein and low in carbs.
