This strikes me as football analysis. Oversimplification galore! Football analysis treats the last thing that happened as if it were the only thing that happened, but in football every point in the scoreboard is equally important. I agree that “evangelicals” whatever that word may mean, are an important part of the broad conservative coalition that supports Trump.
