If you listen to Dan Bongino on a regular basis, his working hypothesis is that Joseph Mifsud was an intelligence asset working to set up George Papadopoulos, unbeknownst to the FBI at the time.
Mifsud was not a Russian asset, he was a Western intelligence asset, used by John Brennan for his own private sting on Trump.

I saw him a few days ago he is pretty sure Misfud was a us asset which completely blows up the basis for the collusion investigation/fisa warrants.
